Choosing the Right Court: Court of Appeal

This court hears all civil and criminal appeals of decisions made in both Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench. For most cases, this court’s decision is final. An application for leave or permission to appeal a Court of Appeal decision to the Supreme Court of Canada can be sought, but leave will not be granted automatically. The case must be of an issue of national importance before the Supreme Court of Canada will grant leave.
