Mr. Forbes joined Pollock & Company in 1997.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Manitoba in 1991. He graduated from The University of Alberta in 1995 with his Bachelor of Laws, and was admitted to the Manitoba Bar in 1996.

In 1995 and 1996, Mr. Forbes articled and served as an associate lawyer for the law firm of D.R. Knight & Associates in The Pas, Manitoba. During his articling and practice, Mr. Forbes represented individual clients in areas of civil litigation, family law, criminal law and wills and estates, as well as appearing in court as a Crown Attorney Agent for the Department of Justice Canada. He also appeared frequently as counsel for the Department of Child and Family Services of Manitoba in child protection matters.

Since joining Pollock & Company in 1997, Mr. Forbes has appeared in the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, Manitoba Court of Appeal, Manitoba Provincial Court, and the Federal Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, as well as before various tribunals, agencies and boards.

Mr. Forbes practices primarily in the areas of medical malpractice litigation and class actions and was co-counsel with the law firm of Klein Lyons of Vancouver in certifying the first class proceeding in Manitoba under The Class Proceedings Act regarding the Baycol class action. He maintains an active class action practice and is co-counsel in several ongoing class actions involving Baycol, Vioxx, General Motors, Menu Foods and Agent Orange. Mr. Forbes has also practiced in the areas of family law, criminal law, wills and estates and residential real estate transactions. He has represented a number of Manitoba First Nations in the Federal Court regarding election appeals.

Mr. Forbes is a member of the Law Society of Manitoba, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Manitoba Bar Association. He is the current chair of the Health Law section of the Manitoba Bar Association and one of the Past Chairs of the Manitoba Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section.

Mr. Forbes is also active as a volunteer in the community. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of both DASCH Inc., and DASCH Foundation Inc. of Winnipeg. DASCH Inc. is an organization devoted to providing meaningful residential, vocational and leisure programs in the community to persons with developmental disabilities.
